Hi,
Just put some eggbeaters on my cx bike and they seem very loose, as in easy to clip out, is there any way of adjusting them?

I also have some shimano spds, out of the two which is best for a cyclocross bike riding on and off road?

Cheers

  • I have no experience with the eggbeaters but have had a lot of friends who have tried them and swapped back to spds as they never felt that positive feeling you need with the beaters. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to correct me but I imagine that unless you have very stiff soles then long rides in beaters could be painful for your feet due to a small contact area. However, for CX you need flexible(ish) soles for occasional running but beaters offer great mud clearance.

I've not tried beaters before but I use SPD's for all off road riding without issue. There is no reason why you can't use them for the road, they are more practical than LOOK pedals but for a pure road bike I prefer LOOKs
