Despite trawling the internet I am unable to find if there are any records listed in the over 50 category for the longest distance covered on the road in 48 hours .
Are there any 48 hour records or does anyone know where I could find any details
I know just put it down to stupidity in my old age ,if there is one I,ve got no chance of beating it but it gives me some sort of benchmark

24s are rare enough beasts these days (down to the Mersey Roads each year and the ESCA every couple of years).
RRA and CTT would be the people to contact and find out if there has ever been a 48 hour record. And VTTA for old git's records (I am now an old git in time trial world - I chose to wait to make my debut in the sport until I was an old git).

The top 24 hour riders will spend a handful of minutes (certainly under10) off the bike in a 24.
The outright record is Andy Wilkinson's at 541.something miles.
I rode my first 24 this year - two riders went over 500 miles in the National and it really was astonishing being passed by them, they could hold their tuck perfectly for that length of time and were riding at speeds many of us would have trouble holding for an hour!
With regards to the OP, I guess the closest thing to the 48 hour record is the 1000 mile record which stands at 2 days 8 hours, suggesting a top rider should hit 800-850 miles in the 48 hours.0 -
I have clearly some work to do...
500 miles in 24 hours by someone who is not even a professional deserves a chapeau...left the forum March 20230 -

Bare in mind that Wilkinson is 50 now so you'd want something he can't beat easily!
I reckon this is beatable though, I was even reluctant to post it as I thought it might be something worth trying for!
