After going to watch a couple of Eastern Region races in the last 2 years, I decided I would give a cross race a go, having been racing xc for 6 years, mostly regional level, and 24/12 twice, last weekend I lined up at the back on the mtb too see what all the fuss was about.
The race I chose was part of the Eastern League in vets, and I can happily report I loved every minute of it, sliding around, jumping off too get over a fallen tree and being flat out for the full 40 minutes, I was quite pleased with how I got on, finishing mid field against some seriously nice kit, and having become a bit bored with the winter races around here, I think I've found my winter thing from now on.
The diary is now cleared to make it to the last 3 rounds of the winter, and today I picked up a Caad X 105 too complete the deal, I needed a winter bike anyway, and the ministry of fun and finance didn't say no, although I don't recall a defiant eyes either!
Looking forward too next weeks race now.

Enjoy it, it's a blast. I still haven't done my first race, but once I get steady enough with training I can't wait to try it out.
