About to pull the trigger on buying one of these, anyone got one and if so what are your thoughts, any good?

105 shifting and mechs and ok kit elsewhere, seems ok I think?

Cheers

Jesse

Not many likely to have one yet, but there is a review of the 2015 Defy 0 in the latest Cycling Plus mag. Same frame, wheels and components apart from the Ultegra STI, RD and BR561 brake calipers, they still rate it at that price point, so as long as you get the correct size it will be fine.

Great frame and decent kit. Run the wheels over the winter and save for some new hoops. Can't fault your it.
Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?
  • Like JesseD, I'm also looking at the Giant Defy 1 2015..
Spent a little time at the LBS today riding out his lot on a Giant Defy 3 (Small) to see about fit... Felt good. But I can't say much else, since it's my first road bike and first time back on a bike since old heavy mountain bike days 15+ years ago.

Any additional comments would be helpful.
Since riding the Giant Defy 3 and feeling my first road bike... just feels twitchy and I felt very forward... all and all I suppose things I'm just not use too.

The Defy is a comfortable and stable bike, the twitchiness you describe can be attributed to the higher riding position and narrower handlebars that you are not accustomed to. As with any bike, it is important to get the correct size and fit, once you get some miles in you will be fine with it, or any other bike you choose. Fit some 25mm wide quality tyres and experiment with pressures to find out what suits you the best.
  • I picked up a Defy 3 2014 a couple of months ago as a winter bike. I can only say that it has exceded my expectations, even with its low speck wheels. The frame is very stiff yet comfortable.
Im sure the Defy 1 2015 will be more of the same and better, go get it.

Some good prices there. 2014 Defy 3 and Defy 1 stand out to me.

The 2014 Defy Composite 1 is a fantastic bike - but then again, I have one (bought for just over £1k in December) so I'm biased.

At £899 the TCR composite 2 looks a steal!
