Think I have grit in my Fulcrum DBCX freehub. Anyone got any advice on removal? I am a little stuck - I have exposed the bearings but cant work out how to get the freehub off...

I have searched on Fulcrum website but no info on this model or anything similar. I have also emailed fulcrum.

Thanks....

  • Should be similar, one hopes, to their mtb range. Could be worth a Google on you tube

  • Any good?

  • Thanks but it's unlike any of the mtb or road hubs that I can find documentation or videos for (the video is a completely different hub style). I dont have pictures - not sure how useful that would be - there is very little to see except bearing at each end, no allen key bolts.... I'll try to take some tomorrow if anyone thinks it will help but I am looking for anyone who know these hubs....
  • Yeah, they're new aren't they. Don't seem to exist on the web as standalone yet....

  • I cant find anything on them - I think they are for OEM - they appear on a lot of cyclocross bikes but not for sale....

  • I've had a reply from fulcrum to my email saying the instructions aren't online telling me that they have some documents online.
The importer has replied to the bike shop (who asked as well) which is useful. If it works, I'll post the instructios here.

As I said, I dont think photos will help - all you can see is the bearings, nothing else....
  • For anyone else in the future searching how to remove the freehub on Fulcrum DB CX (DB-CX, DBCX) hubs, this is what I did:

    Remove axle (17mm spanners)
Remove dust seals both sides over bearings.
Using a hammer and punch - punched out the out the disc-side (non-drive side) bearing
Using a 12mm allen key from the non-drive side unscrew (normal thread) a nut that is not easy to see. This nut holds the freehub on.
    The freehub is then free...

    Hope this helps.

Sounds like it is normal for a disc hub.

And it is a bolt not nut ;)

  • I saw your note on the Fulcrum DBCX Wheel and getting the hub off. I have removed the bearings and bought a 12mm allen key. It fits from the non-drive side but it is impossible to move anything. It is absolutely stuck. Any suggestions? Have I missed anything? Starting to hate this wheel!
