All lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....

Came across this bloke on the Koppenberg a few months back. Only one leg, but a seriously impressive leg! He turned round at the top, went back down, and did it again. And he wasn't going slowly. Respect!

Swear I saw this guy in Normandy last year. He was going hell for leather.
Much respect.0 -
I remember seeing Christian Haettich (although I've only just found out his name) on Alpe D'Huez one year during the Marmotte. I was really scraping the barrel at the time but when I clapped eyes on him I forgot all that, I remember being so dumbstruck that all I could mumble when we were alongside each other was 'respect mate, respect'. He's a sight you don't forget easily!0

I first became aware of him when I watched the Haute Route video.

His comments on how tricky it is for him to take a drink on the climbs puts his achievements (and sheer guts) into perspective.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

When you see people like this achieving what they do it makes you realise that most of us have feck all to moan about in life really"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"
