What an inspiration especially when i feel like giving up on the hills of the UK!

Came across this bloke on the Koppenberg a few months back. Only one leg, but a seriously impressive leg! He turned round at the top, went back down, and did it again. And he wasn't going slowly. Respect!

Swear I saw this guy in Normandy last year. He was going hell for leather.

    Much respect.

I remember seeing Christian Haettich (although I've only just found out his name) on Alpe D'Huez one year during the Marmotte. I was really scraping the barrel at the time but when I clapped eyes on him I forgot all that, I remember being so dumbstruck that all I could mumble when we were alongside each other was 'respect mate, respect'. He's a sight you don't forget easily!

I first became aware of him when I watched the Haute Route video.

His comments on how tricky it is for him to take a drink on the climbs puts his achievements (and sheer guts) into perspective.
“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

When you see people like this achieving what they do it makes you realise that most of us have feck all to moan about in life really
