Hi there,

I'm in the dilemma of picking one the followings, not crazy expensive deep wheels. Going with alu braking surface as intend to use all year around. Currently on Fulcrum 5s.
Had 60mm tubs in the past, sadly sold and now miss that whooshing sound from the rear wheel when putting power down.

Options
1.FFWD F6R (FFWD hubs, currently on sale) most interested with these.
2.Cosmic Carbone SLS - I presume they are good but literally everybody have them.
3.SHIMANO RS81 C50 - modest option but shimano quality
4.Campagnolo Bullet 50mm - reviews say they are great.

Or any other pair to consider ?

My only concern are hills, but read that 250-300 gram doesn't play huge difference going uphill unless I'm racing at elite levels.

Neither cross winds big problem, nor loud freewheel, in fact the louder the better. :D
Thanks in advance!

by the looks they are full carbon, I'm after alu brake surface, had enough madness previously with carbon brake tracks, especially in the wet.

The brake surface is aluminium, it's just anodised black for look. FLO are very good value, although their purchase process is a bit tedious and you might be sting by import duties

neither do I have them. The flow rims or HED offering use a wide rim. As a fan of wide rims if you do want "factory" then go wide it is better in almost every way. The RS81 rim may actually be 17mm internal width so that would be wide too. Not sure though someone else may need to confirm that fact.

The import duty and VAT can be calculated here....

Put code 8714.99.9019 into the product description box and it works out that you're talking about wheels.

The costs add up when you do get stung

The braking on these is very good, if you use a good compound of brake pad

After few evenings spent on a research I've gone with RS81's. Got a pair for £470 online, so can buy some gears too with budget left. Thanks for all your help.

I have just bought my gf a pair of F6R for her Bianchi. She will be the first to sya it was looks as much as anything else, especially as she chose Bianchi coloured ones.

I really like the look of those Swiss Side though. The price is phenomenal at current exchange rates and at 1650g they are a good weight for ali brake tracks and 27mm wide.

I've got the Hed 4 plus and love them. Not as snappy climbing as say a 1400-1500g wheel but not too bad. They do feel very fast above and around 23 / 24 mph. I'm not sure how costs compare with ones you've been looking at, Hed's are not necessarily best value for money!

Aren't they really just Taiwanese import wheels with posh stickers?

    And an EU warranty? Probably.

I'm not sure the use of 'Just' is warranted for carbon products made in Taiwan. Almost all other wheels in this price break will be made there, as are some of the best frames you can buy.

I ordered wheels before from Switzerland and had to pay import tax as Sui is not in the Europe economic area :?

Said, took my RS81 C50's for a very short test and generally satisfied, can't complain for £470 at all :D
