  • In other words, a normal ride in Scotland.

Haha - I was going to post that!
  • Down here it normally means that you're riding in weather no one else is stupid enough to be out in.

How about a ride if 20miles plus hat doesn't produce a single segment, or if in the southeast lets go for something reasonable like less than 50 segments.

Not so long ago I rode for about 15 miles without any segments. Odd thing is, the road is one of the nicest cycling roads I've found - nice winding traffic free single lane road over low moors with fantastic views. It just doesn't show up on the maps until you zoom in a long way and the ways onto it are a bit obscure - really you have to be looking for it to find it! Naturally, with some regret I contaminated the road with a couple of segments and found less than 50 people had been that way with GPS before me.

The two alternatives are a slightly drab flat road and a busy A road.

Someone needs to invent a word to describe someone who deletes a segment they created when they see they are so far off the top and dont want to give someone another KOM.

    A w&^%r?
  • I've just had a go at this for the first time, a solo ride yesterday out of Portsmouth into the foothills of the Downs has shown up two other people- one crossed the route just behind me, and the other was going in the opposite direction on a cycle track- can't say I remember either of them!

    A fun little app though.

I dunno - do they? Has anyone actually done this? How would you know?

I have seen segments appear along routes a frequently ride appear and then disappear shortly after. They dont become flagged so I can only assume they have been created and deleted soon after.
