Latest Ribble Gran Fondo spec

First time on the forum so I hope I haven't posted this in the wrong place :?
I've just taken delivery of a new Ribble Gran Fondo and wanted to share some info that I certainly wasn't aware of before I received it. It seems that Ribble make changes to their frame specs without updating their website so I just wanted to get something down in black and white for potential buyers searching for more details.
Last year saw the replacement of the carbon/alloy fork with an all carbon model, but it seems that the latest version of the frame also has full internal cable routing and is Di2 ready
Also, just for reference, with Fulcrum Racing 5s, 105 groupset (5800) and basic Deda finishing kit the bike weighs in at 8.2 KG (55 cm/large size frame) which is a bit less than I was expecting given comments on other fora.

I've got a Gran Fondo, and a very nice frame it is too.
If I were you though, I would buy a spare Gear Hanger as soon as possible, just in case.
If you try to buy a spare GF hanger now, you will find that there are none in stock, and none likely to come into stock!!! (A very nice man at Ribble told me that as the frames advance, the manufacturers don't like to continue making the hangers, which as you know are fairly bike specific rather than general!?  )
Fortunately the hanger for the Evo Pro Carbon fits the GF I am told, but who is to say if they will be in stock for long?
I have two Ribble frames, and I do genuinely like them both. Up until last week I would have been happy to recommend either of them to anyone, but imagine if you had to scrap a frame off because you couldn't get a £14 gear hanger that fit! (And yes, I am one of those lucky people who have had the freak event of a hanger going in the past, so I have a spare for both frames.)
I don't know if this is a common problem with other makes of frame, but it seems a bit of a sad situation to me.0 -
Sounds like good advice - cheers0

Sounds like a better deal to me then
Odd that Ribble wouldn't make people aware of such changes though :?"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Always worth talking to the nice man at http://gearmechhanger.com/epages/950001649.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950001649/Categories as he seems to know his way around most of the frames that have ever been produced and what hanger that they'd need.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Good point, if just took delivery of a 7005 winter addax frame, and it's changed a hell of a lot from my old one.
Totally redesigned around the rear axle area, and it now has a bolt on braze on hanger which seems a little strange.
Gonna order a hanger nowSpecialized S Works SL2 . Campagnolo Record 11spd. rolling on Campag Zonda wheels

Sounds like a good surprise, for a change!! +1 on a spare mech hanger though!!
I broke one on my PX, the day before a sportive, and couldn't get a spare in time. Ended up borrowing a friends bike for the ride!0 -

The comments about it being a bit of a lardy frame and (particularly) fork surprised me as well. My 2013 frame+fork+integrated headset+bb+derailleur clamp+seatpost clamp+bottle cage bolts weighed in at 1750g; total build (mostly ultegra 6600, 3T & selle italia finishing kit, 105 pedals, ultegra wheels) was 7.9kg0 -

This looks like the one. http://gearmechhanger.com/epages/950001 ... oducts/D87
A bit more expensive than the standard ones but better quality too though whether that means any functional benefit I'm not sure. Re-assuring though that nobody should be needing to scrap a frame for want of a hanger.
Edit - another cheaper option via Ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REAR-MECH-GEA ... 4612eb02d8Faster than a tent.......0 -
