How to Choose a bike for MTB?

Hello Guys,

I am a beginner for MTB cycling and new to this forum.
Recently i am going to buy a bike for MTB cycling, any suggestion?

    Budget? what sort of riding (gravel tracks, natural singletrack, trail centres or full on downhill madness?), where do you live (giving an indication of local rides)?

    I'm guess you aren't in the UK which may limit our suggestions at the budget end of the spectrum which are mostly UK specific although Decathlons bikes are great and they are nearing worldwide brand status now.

    As for how to choose, number ONE priority is getting a bike with a good fork, it makes or breaks the ride quality to a far far greater extent than any other component, must have damping, ideally with some adjustment.
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
