Hello,
i am restoring a 1985 puch alpine with the pegs to hold a pump on the top tube,
the gap is 17" but i cant find a pump to fit it.
does anyone know of a company that makes pumps to fit it or maybe
information on where i could find a second hand one?
thanks,
Chris

Zefal HPX Classic is the sort of thing to look for.

Or you just get the plastic ones as per here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zefal-Rev-88- ... 2a3663a7b8
Not necessarily very elegant but they are actually identical to the pumps Zefal made for the manufacturers to fit to new bikes in the 80s.Faster than a tent.......0 -
If you have a pump that is a little too short, then cut a short section of hose to fit over the pump shaft to extend the overall length to fit.

Try eBay. I used to have one of these on my 1980s "racer":
