Hi everyone,
Can anyone offer any advice- I have a beloved 14 year old cannondale r2000 caad4 winter bike with 9 speed ultegra. The shifters and chainrings have worn out and I am looking to replace the entire groupset with new Shimano 105 5800 (11 speed). Is this possible- I'm not sure the spacing/clearance will work. I am swapping out the wheels for my ksyriums 2013 which have a 11 speed compatible hub so I don't have to worry about that side of things..

Many thanks in advance
Richard

If you've already got 11 speed compatible wheels then you'll be fine.
  • All fine ... Go for it ... and please post some pics of the updated bike ...
Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it.
  • Yup, it'll be totally fine- its only the wheels that have different spacings so if you have your 11spd wheel it'll be fine.

You might need a shim to be able to fit the Ultegra chainset into the BB30 but its been done fairly regularly.
  • caad4 isn't bb30, takes both Shimano and Campag I believe (well my caad5 did anyway) ...
