Hi

I want to fit some Curana C-Lite mudguards to my Genesis Equilibrium.

I think they look good (for mudguards) on this one: http://www.fitzroviabicycles.com/products/genesis-equilibrium-853-build/

Currently I am running Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700c x 28 tyres.

The mudguards come in several different sizes 30mm, 35mm, 40mm, 45mm.

I have two problems:

1) Which is the right size?

2) Finding somewhere cheaper than Evans @ £49.99!

Cheers

  • I use SKS with good results.

P35 will take upto 28 mm and P45 are ok to 35 mm

You may find that you need to fit a smaller tyre when you fit mudguards. I think Genesis say 28mm without guards and 25mm with. Having said that I have SKS Chromoplastic narrows (£28)on my Equilibrium with 25mm Vittoria Open Pave CG's fitted, and looking at the available room I'm going to try 27mm ones.

The 35's would do it, esp. as the mudguards you plan on buying are pratically flat.

Why not contact that bike shop and ask them what size those guards are? If you look carefully at the close up you can just make out that they have a waisted, (narrower section), where they fit adjacent to the seatstay/brake caliper, so that will determine what width you can fit.

I've just had SKS 35mm mudguards for £35 put on my hybrid with 28mm tyres. A neat fit, but they look really smart and the mudflap on the front kept my feet totally dry on wet roads the other day. They can be fiddly to fit so I just got the bike shop to fit them for me when they did a winter service/check-up.
