I don't have anywhere to work on my bike at my new house except on the pavement, and was wondering if there are bikeshops where you can 'hire' a workbench?

I have tools and all the bits I need, just don't want to sat in the rain, probably in the dark for a long evening.

London, preferably City or SW based.

  • There are some black heavy duty rubber rugs that you can put down in your flat to do the dirty work. You can then hoover them and give them a wipe... I don't think that' a big issue. The really big issue if you don't have outdoor space is where to wash your bike (if you do)

The reason I am asking isn't because I am not aware of rubber mats. It's because I am not in a position to use any room in the house as a temporary workshop.

OT, but I once built a 25' carbon fibre mast for a sailing dinghy in a 2nd-floor one-bed flat. It did get in the way to a certain extent, and I had to rig up an aerial ropeway to a nearby lamp post to get it out...

10 pounds an hour to hire stand and tools seems reasonable

That looks good. Also found a place called Micycle which does something similar.
