So i've got hold of a Marin frame and im planning on doing it up as bit of a project.
This is the frame: http://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/Bike ... &Type=bike
It came with nothing but the headset and bottom bracket, but they need replacing, at the moment it has a 1 1/8 Threadless Headset and a TruVativ Power Spline Bottom Bracket (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/truv ... -prod21496).
Now as far as i know, the bottom bracket can be replaced with whatever a new crankset needs (Probably HT2) aslong as the widths and diameter match?
But the headset is where im struggling, does it have to be a Threadless headset or can it be a different standard?

Why would you be considering any other sort of headset?
Most common type available, and all modern forks are threadless.I don't do smileys.

I guess im confused then, is a threadless headset the same as a Zero stack/Integrated headset?0

It could be, but yours isn't. It's a standard cups on the outside. Like this.

That is a really good one at a bargain price. But any standard 1 and 1/8th (not zero stack/integrated/semi integrated etc) will work.
They are all threadless - that just means the forks don't thread into the headset.I don't do smileys.

Read Parktools for general useful DIY info, or the Cane Creek website for what fits to what.I don't do smileys.
