Tour de France 2015 in the Alps

I'm hoping to go and watch the Tour for a few days in the Alps next year, taking a bike to ride up a col on the route each day. Does anyone know if it's possible to ride from the Col du Glandon across to La Toussuire without having to go all the way down the valley and through Saint Jean de Maurienne?
Thanks for your help, Paul

    Hi Paul

You can use viamichelin.com to check the Michelin maps (often more useful than Google Maps):

  • Ive stayed in la toussuire for last 2 years and dont think there is a way to cut off going down the croix de fer and up la toussuire. There may be un made roads or tracks but not convinced there is any tarmac.

however you dont need to go all the way down to st jean de maurienne as la toussuire turns off about 5km before you get into the town. Its 14km from the turn off to the top of la toussuire.
