I thought this was an interesting press release from Wilier on counterfeit frames. They've tested a Cento Uno SR vs an imitation one bought from Ali Express and published the results. Of course being the manufacturer, they would say this, but make of it what you will.

If the carbon seat post thread taught us anything, it was that all carbon can crack/break so to just treat it all the same.
Nice try Wilier [shakes fist]0 -
This copy is basically a cracker made from a bunch of carbon fiber.
Is that a damnation or praise? My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

I think there may be a few translation issues going on in there.... :P0 -
Strength: frame and fork broke immediately
Just goes to show that carbon cannot be trusted. In this case it must have been UV degradation as a result of 5 minutes exposure in the hot Italian sun.0 -
Could someone enlighten me. Presumably, once the NM value is met, the Wilier also breaks.
The test appears to suggest that the frame broke when dropped. Dropped how?My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

and the fake values are not far from the Wilier values, within about 20%, which sounds ok to me for a fake.
Wilier don't say who they bought the "fake" from. If it had been a Dengfu or somesuch it would have possibly been more interesting. As it stands no-name Chinese frame is slightly less strong than Wilier chinese frame.BASI Nordic Ski Instructor
