Bottom bracket help!

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any help!
I've recently purchased a second hand frame (Cannondale supersix) which has a bb30 frame. The chap that sold it to me threw in an Fsa Gossamer crankset which has a 30mm spindle. Unfortunately I've discovered on stripping the frame an adaptor for an English thread external bb has been fitted, with a Shimano bb currently installed. This is obviously too small!
I'd rather keep the adaptor after my Lbs said they would never remove it - it would need to go to a specialist whereby the frame can be heated to break down the bonding agent and this sounds pretty expensive, plus I kind of like external bb's for their simplicity of replacement.
Is there any way to fit my crankset to the frame?
I note that many third party manufacturers do adaptors, but someone somewhere put a comment about bb30 cranksets being designed that the bearings run on a different part of the spindle and aren't designed for an external option? It scared me a bit despite not being the heaviest rider out there (12 stone). Given the time of year I need to spend as little as possible so new cranks is the last option...
Cheers!

So you are asking about using a BB30 crank with a threaded adaptor.
Nope.
The only way would be to remove the adaptor.
And many of the OE fitted ones are not meant to be removed as they are bonded in."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

That's what I feared! Looks like a nearly new Gossamer crankset is going on eBay etc. and I'll have to get a new crankset in...
Out of interest could I ask why something like this wouldn't work though...?

(They do a cheaper steel one - I'm aware I could buy a crankset for what this cost!)0 -
You'd still need to remove the currently fitted adapter.
Just bang a Dura Ace chainset in there.Ben
