removing tiagra brake cable
I have Tiagra triple 9 speed STI levers and trying to find a way to remove the brake cable. Gear cable is fine - just pull back the rubber and it's exposed on the side, but I have a feeling I need to remove or unscrew something to access the brake cable?

If you have disconnected the cable at the brake caliper, press the brake lever until it reaches the handle bar, then push the inner cable from the rear to front so that you can release the cable nipple from the cable hook on the lever, you may need to use a pair of needle nosed pliers.
Have a look at the SI pdf file SI-8E60C-001 under BR-4500

If there is no gear cable, shift the gear levers and hold the gear lever in the 'shift' position and bring the brake lever to the bars. This will give you a little more room to get the cable out. As mentioned NNPs help, I use them to grip the cable and push it out of the cable hook so I can pull the nipple out of the cable hook.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
