Best bike fit in London?

I'm imagining that the best guys at fitting bikes are probably based in London so I'm considering a day trip there to get fitted properly and then riding back home to test it out.

Any suggestions on who to use? Who is the bike whisperer??

That's one hell of an assumption...

Well, there are a couple around here. I'm guessing the concentration of fitters in London is much higher, increasing the chance of me finding a good one there.

Have a search for Adrian Timmis at Cadence Sport. You'll hear pretty much nothing but good things about him, I'm booked in for a fit on both bikes in January. And you won't have to travel to London, he's in Stoke on Trent.

Get yourself down the A1 to Artisan Cycles to see Giuseppe of Velo Solutions.

  • I live in London . Fitters everywhere . London prices too .
  • Thats a bit like asking who's the best Doctor; who's the best cook; Rinaldo or Messi ? Go to three fitters and you'll get four solutions.

Cadence Sport is near Burton on Trent, not Stoke.
  • Do you have a specific issue or it's just because it is a trendy thing to do?

If you are OK on your bike, any bike fitter worth his salt won't probably do any dramatic change, in essence you would be wasting your money...
On the other hand if you are not OK on your bike...

I've changed my saddle for comfort. Also shortened my stem after a 600km audax left me with an agonising shoulder ache. I suspected I'd been reaching forward too much for some time so I had to take action after that. Doing a 300km this weekend and will see how the new parts have settled in. Want to get a professional to fine tune it though after that - I'm doing PBP next year so I want it just right in time for the SR rides I'll have to do.

Is it possible to ride 600km and not have some discomfort?!

I can certainly recommend the Bike Whisperer for distance riders.

Scherrit completely listens to your needs and gets that comfort pretty much trumps everything in distance.

He set up my main distance bike and shoes and I've had little trouble since then (got very numb fingers on my first 400 which prompted me to go and see him). I've learnt a lot from the experience and my own experiences since 2011 when I had it done. I've set up a new distance bike from the measurements we made - that's only done a ride of 220km as it's longest, but without trouble. I've a new pair of shoes that have done around 270km as their longest ride that I am a little less confident about - that's the clever stuff!

    He's over Reading way now.

There's usually a little yes! Mental discomfort for sure.

Not the sort that requires 3 sessions of sports massage to put right! :D

I had mine at Cyclefit after a recommendation from a friend.

It was £250 which was a lot more than I wanted to spend but I had discomfort. The session was almost 3 hours long and was informative and the end result was a good riding stance and advice.

What was done? My cleats were repositioned. I had shims added in. New insoles for my flat feet. seat post was moved up and forward a little and was advised to change my handlebar and seat.

Although looking back I could have sorted out 2/5 of the problems, but the real rear game changer for me was the cleat set up with shim/insoles.
