Okay so if its raining hard and not too cold like today then cycling in the rain can really make you feel alive. Its great and I don't mind getting wet through but, my ass get's chaffed to the point where I get blisters! Ouch! Never a problem in the dry and I get the fact that the wet material is rubbing against wet skin and causing a lot of friction. I've tried a number of pre ride crème's but, because of the rain they just rub off and I still get a chaffed ass! I'm not gonna be put off riding in the rain but, any helpful idea's as my ass looks like a students chin.. (and before anyone suggests it, I'm not standing on the pedals for 2 hours!)

yes to both the above, and I tried to source a jacket that would cover my rear but, in prolonged rain the water soaks from the front to the rear regardless!0

It does seem unnecessarily cruel to involve your donkey in bicycling-related activities. If it's your arse that's hurting, keep riding till it becomes leathery and smooth and can handle time in the saddle, or smear as much cream as you see fit around your perineum.
Yeee-hah. Let's go boot some donkey.0 -

It could also be bacteria in the water affecting your skin. My wife used to do audax and wet 300km upwards were a trial for her. She was sitting in wet shorts and dirty roadwater. Mudguards, chamois cream and spare shorts were the way to go. Most water is coming from below you as opposed to above you, so you sit in a combination of water and whatever is on the roadM.Rushton0

I suggest some therapy. Get a set of rollers and put them in a small cupboard with your bike and a fan heater. Put a picture of Alpe D'Huez on the wall in front and exorcise this strange attraction to cycling in the rain.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

Water is a lubricant you know....
Where, to be indelicate, are these blisters forming?0
