Out of interest - in what way are the C24s 'not ideally suited'..?

Funnily enough, I was just typing the same question!

C24's are much too cheap. You may be happier to trim some weight off your wallet and run with Enve clinchers which come in a variety of depths and can be bought off the shelf with dt Swiss or Chris King hubs. OR you can buy the rims and have them built up as you wish by a decent wheel builder.

C24's are still a great wheel.

Boras are what you need I think.

the c24's don't suit the bike and they look crap, I'm running dura ace di2 so no campag mix n match

If you want cosmetic advice, I think you should post a few photos of the bike... otherwise is difficult to say what looks good and what looks crap.
Mavic Cosmic ultimate look good on most bikes... otherwise the C40 if you prefer clinchers

They may or may not 'look crap' (matter of opinion) - but why don't they suit the bike??

Tbh I'd've thought that C24's would be bang on...

I make assumptions and try to match the OP expectations... sounds like a classic case of Cafe' wheels...

cafe wheels lol? theres some truth in that! I'm interested in the dura ace c50 in a clincher, enough of the mockery!

With silver brake track? They will look horrendous... either you go for the full carbon tubs or go for the Mavic Cosmic with Exalith brake track.... or the C 40...

i think I'll give the mavic clinchers 40c a go, I wouldn't go with tubs again far too much hassle, not sure about the exalith brake track (I've heard them)

That silver brake track... the braking surface isn't perfect on the shimano wheels either had a few dodgy sets in the past

The C 40 have truly amazing rims, probably the only safe carbon clinchers out there as they have an alloy liner inside to contain the tyre. Of course you pay for that, but if you have the budget, go for them.
    I reviewed them last year

I have C40s on my C59 and I reckon they are a decent enough wheelset. I can't comment much though as I've not had them out in the wet and I've not been out on them when there's been a significant side wind - two aspects which I think would be important considerations for the OP who mainly rides on the flat.

They do look the part albeit having had two months forced absence from the bike I really do feel like 'Mr All The Gear & No Idea' at the moment! They may stay in their bags until next spring by which time I should have some level of fitness back. Good all rounders which I got for a great price. If I were buying afresh and had the funds available, I'd be very tempted to have a look at the Enve's, albeit with CK hubs for a bit of drama! A couple of reviews below:

  • What's wrong with Zipp? Can't speak highly enough of my 404's and 304, impeccable handling in all conditions.

    undapressure

There have been quite a few posts in recent times rumbling about hub problems with Zipp wheels. It would be great if this could be knocked on the head. Due to initial lack of confidence on my part with the concept of carbon braking surfaces, my first venture into carbon wheels was a 303 firecrest rear clincher and a DA C35 up front! The comparison at the time was with a pair of Fulcrum Zero on a Wilier Cento Uno. The ride was immediately smoother/ more comfortable and I used that rather odd pairing for quite a while with no problems whatsoever. I suspect for me 303 firecrests would be the ideal all rounder particularly if the hub issue has been fully resolved (assuming there was an issue to resolve in the first place as I had no problem with the one wheel I tried).

  • Northpole,

There have been several posts and reviews over the last 12 months to confirm that problems with earlier hubs have now been resolved on the V9 & V10 hubs.
