SKS Race Blade Long mudguards FYI

I emailed SKS last night to ask what the situation was regarding the Race Blade long mudguards. They replied today saying that they have no stock of the existing model and that they are "planning a new version for next season".
When I asked for the availability of the new model I was told they didn't have a delivery schedule, she assumed it would be the beginning of 2016.
So it looks as though they have realised that there are problems with the existing model and are going back to the drawing board.

Why, whats wrong with the existing version. I am very happy with mine, so much show that I have a boxfresh set waiting for when my current ones are properly tired.0

My LBS has been promising me a set for weeks and they haven't arrived. This probably explains why.0

If you do a search you will find that users have experienced problems with the fittings braking and parts falling off or failing to be removed as and when required. If yours are fine then just do a regular inspection for peace of mind.

The alu brake tab on my rear guard snapped the other week, but that was only coz I took in some unscheduled off piste cyclo-x on a local ride.
SKS sent me out a free replacement part from ze Germany, frei!0 -

I'm always mildly surprised when I read the numerous positive reviews and experiences of these mudguards. I had a complete nightmare with mine. I set them up fine but after removing and putting them back on they became lethal. The clips seemed to completely loose any function and they fell off bit by bit until the rear one jammed in my wheel locking it up.
I'm now using Crud Mk2s which seem a lot safer at least.0
