I'm looking at buying a MTB with cycle to work scheme but wondered if it would be possible to pick up a 105 group set as an accessory for my road bike. Anyone else tried this?

You can't use the vouchers to buy components although some retailers may record it against something else.
  • I cant remember where i read it but i have seen that you can now get accessories alone on C2W schemes. it may only be certain schemes but i am sure thats a new thing in the last year or so. talk to the bike shop and see what they will do for you.

You can buy stuff like locks, lights and helmets through C2W. You can also buy clothing and shoes, provided that they feature some sort of reflective material (which means that they can be considered to be safety equipment). You're not permitted to buy components - only the purchase of a complete bike is allowed. That's not say, however, that your LBS won't let you use your voucher quite flexibly, as Pross suggests above.

To add to the above, you don't have to buy a bike - you can just buy safety equipment and accessories if you like. See the question "I already own a bike, can I obtain just safety equipment and accessories through Cyclescheme?" on Cyclescheme's FAQ webpage:
