Not sure if there is an electrical section relevant to this or if everyone knows about them already but here goes..

I came across these integrated USB double sockets a little while ago and was debating wether to get a couple to fit. But after riding home tonight my main light was flashing to say it needs a recharge. Now, i have 4 lights on my bike, and try to charge them all at the same time so i know where i am with them.. But i can only find 2 USB plugs at the mo!

Think i might invest.. (They do other colour options, and you can get similar in B&Q etc)

An intelligent charger which apparently means it knows how much charge the thingy you've plugged in needs.

I bought once last week and it seems pretty good so far. 8)

Ha, or one of those then!

Saves changing the socket front for the sake of it. Good find!

  • It was the £50 reduced to £20 that attracted me..

I bought one of these last Thursday off Amazon, FOC. Amazon logistics couldn't find my place on Friday so I said to cancel the order and issue a refund which they did but Amazon Logistics found my place and handed me the parcel depsite me being 10 miles away at work, so I've got the item and a refund.
Much better than having all the plug sockets used up with single USB plugs. I have two sockets I use for lights, Garmin and other USB chargeable items, this means I only need one now.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

  • +1, I was going to get some of those screwfix sockets but existing backboxes were less than 35mm so they wouldn't fit. I got the Anker charger yesterday and it's fantastic. Can't recommend it enough.

You could always try one of these to charge on the fly.

This includes 3 Panasonic 18650 cells which are among the best you can buy and likely to be at least 50% more powerful than any light with a built in cell.

Then you should return it. Especially now that you have posted on a public forum.

The problem with the wall sockets with built in USB ports is that you can't turn them off. I'm not concerned with the electricity cost, it's probably fractions of a penny a year, but having something you can't isolate.

The Anker USB chargers are a better idea, I have 2 (one at home, one at work), one of the ports failed on one of them. This is a common fault, if you contact Anker they will send you a new one (That's how I have 2).
