Hi All.. Just bought myself the new Garmin cadence sensor crank mounted.
I've tried pairing it with me Garmin edge 500 I seemed to pick it up as I've a cadence logo on my unit screen but no reading off it while I ride. Is there a simple fix that I've missed in the settings

If its the old style sensor, check the magnet (crank arm) is aligned correctly with the sensor.
edit: just reread your post - You need to go in to the settings on your 500 and find sensor settings and select the 'cadence sensor' only.
Think that should then allow the device to detect it.0 -
I'm sure I've done that but will try again.. will replyRegards Bazza

Make sure you are nowhere near any other sensors.
Go to your bike settings page and tell it your bike has no sensors.
Then tell it that it does have sensors.
Then select cadence only as suggested above.
It may take up to sixty seconds to pair and twenty to get a reading once you start pedalling.0 -
OK.. been through all of that .still no joy.
1. There is no white reset button on the sensor ?
2. Its asking for my sensor ID
3. I'm still seeing the cadence icon on my head unit, so does that know its there ?Regards Bazza

Must be a reset button..
what sensor are you using?
This one..http://www.wiggle.co.uk/garmin-speed-cadence-sensor/
Or this one..http://www.handtec.co.uk/garmin-speed-c ... tAodDxMAlA
Might be a stupid question but is the battery ok??0 -
TBH I cannot see no reset button.. and its the new sensor as the one on the wiggle site you put on, Its a new purchase, the green and red lights flash if I relocate the batteryRegards Bazza

it must be a issue with the garmin 500
try the link below which is the Garmin support page..

I use my Garmin on two bikes with a cadence sensor on each. If I go from one bike to the other, I need to go into setup and allow it to rediscover the sensor or it won't pick it up.
Press the bottom left button on the Garmin at startup and go into initial setup. Scroll through the changes and hopefully it will flash up cadence sensor found.
Make sure the sensor is reading and in range prior to this. Press the reset on the sensor and rotate the crank so both pedal and wheel sensors pass the unit. A red and green light should flash to indicate both are close enough to the unit to be read.0
