Is this frameset/upgrade a good idea or not?

Hi, after a season on my first all carbon bike (Boardman Team Carbon Pro) I'm already thinking about wanting to upgrade - not that I went much faster on the Boardman compared to the old Alu frame I had previous, which proves its still mostly the guy doing the pedalling which determines how quick you go and the bike doesnt pedal for you  However I did find the carbon a bit more comfy as it seemed to absorb the road buzz better. Anyhow back to my query...

I'm now thinking about buying a new frameset as basis for an upgrade project - I see some good groupset deals online just now. So have also noticed a few Boardman Elite SLR 9.8 (and 9.4) crop up from time to time. My question/worry is is this frame a bit too race focused for my type of riding. I'm not a competition cyclist, I use bike for a couple of fitness rides during week and a slightly longer ride at weeked with mates but its usually 25-50 mile spins or 1- 3hrs with the occasional longer sportif thrown in.

So am I stupid going for this type of frame/geometry (given I've never ridden one before) - I would like to be fairly comfortable on the bike but dont think I do long enough rides to merit going for frame/geometry that say they offer 'all day' comfort - I'm sore enough after 2-3 hrs in saddle!! I know Boardman do Elite SLS aswell with is possibly another contender but dont see as many of these 2nd hand.

can anyone advise on the SLR 9.8/4 or offer some good alternatives outside of Boardman that may be easy enough got on used/ebay etc. Any feedback much appreciated.

Cheers
PS. Another reason for wanting to build up from frameset is that with the groupset deals I think (hope) its possible to get the high specs I'm after less than buyinh a complete bike - eg shimamo ultegra 11 speed groupset < £500 plus £500 for framset = Top spec carbon bike for around the £1k mark (have spare wheels bars saddle etc already)

I see no direct reason to go to a more aerodynamic postion if you do not intent to race with the bike.
I am too lazy to look at the geometry differences though, that's up to you.

    No specific reason...

Just I suppose that although not a competition cyclist, I've played competitive sport all my life any find even on solo runs I'm pushing to set PB's beat strava points etc, so all in all I just like to try push myself while training/fitness on the bike.

So just thought that with a better/lighter/stiffer bike with better components would help the possibility of getting better performance on the road. However dont want to go as far as time trial type bike/position as I still want to use in relative comfort for the odd longer sportive/social spin.

Plus I could build the new bike up to be my 'good' bike and demote my current boardman to Winter trainer - just in same way as my old Alu became winter bike and Boardy was my good summer bike a year ago.

Suppose I just fancy upgrading to the next best thing up the ladder - dont think Im the only one here who does that. This time next year it'll prob be another cycle - Di2 groupset maybe...
