Does anyone know of a gilet that has the following?
1 Windproof front.
2 Breathable fabric
3. Available in bright colours
4. Mesh backed
5. Mesh back that is not black.

Please don't tell me this isn't what I want. I have looked on-line but most pictures only show the front.
Thanks in advance.

I had a Louis Garneau gilet that ticks all your filthy boxes.

Craft used to do them but they seem hard to find now. I have the black version and it's very light, windproof and breathable - mesh backed.

Could only find white and yellow - i think they used to do other colours:

The Alé ones on Wiggle look Ok too

Thanks, do you know what they are like sized wise? Looking at the chart it says small = 38" and medium = 40" but a review says they normally wear large in other bike clothing but this in L was too small across the shoulders.
I'm 173 cm (5'8'') and 69 kg (10st 12lb) and looking to wear it in winter over a base layer and light jacket.

Doesnt tick all of the boxes but I would take a serious look at the Castelli Fawesome - it is as good as the name implies!

The back is black and is not mesh but is a thin jersey like layer of nano fabric and the front is Gabba so pretty showerproof front and back. Absolutely love mine - so much so that I bought it in the black and the yellow.

I am 6'3, 75kg, 37/38" chest and I wear a size small, my other jerseys are mostly medium. I wanted it to be fairly tight across the shoulders as my previous gilet flapped quite a bit when going downhill, the mesh back stretches as well so I think it would have to be very tight to feel uncomfortable. So far I've only worn it over a jersey but there is definitely room for a base layer...I could fit a thin jacket underneath but I might be tempted with the next size up if it was something I planned on doing often. I only wore a baselayer/jersey/gilet last winter, so that wasn't an issue when considering sizes.

It's a great gilet though, it's suprising how few there are that tick the high viz/mesh back/pocket boxes.

    LISTEN TO THESE GUYS!!

I've got the Castelli Fawesome vest/gilet in the fluro yellow and it's a corking bit of kit. So much so I bought the convertible Gabba jersey as well.
Still thinking of something clever to say!

I have one of these and it has the features you require. It also packs up very small.

    You'll need a small. I'm 5 10 and 68kg and small fits ok.

The fabric is nice and stretchy so fits better than most Gilets, disappointing that all the back is not Fluro

  • If you search around you might be able to find a Sportful bodyfit pro wind vest, which is very much like the Castelli Fawesome, and ticks as many of your boxes, but doesn't have the reflective trim. for this reason I always wear the Fawesome at night, even though it is black.
