My guess would be that you will spend an hour watching some unfunny excuse for a comedian spend an hour pratting about being generally rude about the french in a little Englander way and in the first episode the production team will contrive daft scenarios involving him, lycra, bikes, a hard thin saddle etc etc.0 -

Less of that! think of the dust bin lids!0 -
He's a bit of a Ravi Shankar who can get on my oven mitts, but don't get your Alan Whickers in a twist about it it, it's only a bit of Mathew Kelly.0

'My guess'?? Yeah, yeah, you clearly managed to sit through it all0 -
They said that there were 3 million graves from the Wars round Ypres ? I rewound it as I was staggered and that was the figure.
Is that true ? I can't see any figures that back it up ? Anyone more awake than me in History ?
Just googled - the exact quote was :
"The Belgian town of Ypres
and the three million graves
that surround it are a testament
to each successive generation's
failure to fulfil that promise."0 -
Seems high but depends on the definition of around Ypres and also if they are counting all wars. Total military fatalities in the Great war were around 8-10 million. There are believed to be around 180,000 bodies unaccounted for on the Ypres salient alone.0

I actually thought the programme wasn't too bad. Of course by the end I wanted him to fall off that big building or step on a bomb but it was entertaining enough and had cycling in it.0

B@st@RD MERDE BOILLOIX
I had no idea about this show. Detour De France was going to be the title of my Edinburgh Fringe show next year.
Now I need a different title so that I can get a tax deductable excuse to follow Le Tour.
Grrrr0 -
Think oi oi Mickey is sampling some of the fizzy stuff while wheezy has a go at the boot and shoe ( Ventoux)
9pm0 -
Sly+'d so will watch tonight0
-
He's not stupid is he ? Actually riding the Ventoux - that's properly serious cycling isnt it. Not his game at all.
I wonder if he gets to keep his new bike ?0 -
Pearson frame isn't it?0
-
Yep - this one I think - I saw it in a close up last week : http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/cate ... -12-46340/0

Again I enjoyed the show... I feel bad as the critics have panned it and there isn't really any proper cycling in it.0

To be honest I'm quite enjoying it, seeing as there's not much cycling on tv at the moment I'm happy to get a bike fix from any means and see a bit of France to boot.
So it's all luverleee juberleee innit.0 -

The footage of Roubaix velodrome made me envious.0 -
Agree. I quite like him after this, there's a bit more to him than I imagined.0
-
This weeks was a bit up and down.
Thought David Coulthard came across as a bit of a tool. However I spent most of my time viewing the lovely Specialized/Lululemon rider in the peloton...0 -
Got this weeks to watch tonight0
-
I thought last night's was the best one. It had no cycling in it at all, but he was being funnier I thought. The bits about his father had me properly LOLing.0
-
Should have given up on this after the Ventoux.
That's where the cycling ended and Sarf London got into full swing."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

+1
gone off him and the programme His ignorance is getting the better of him. .
Now he is trying to flog the DVD with a heavy sell ( it has an extra episode) :?
Failed to make the most (anything?) of a promising format0 -
It did fade away after the promising start in weeks 1 and 2.
Surprisingly I didn't find Mickey too annoying and as a travel show it was ok.
I love France anyway so any shots of a vineyard or lovely little town square isn't going to get complaints from me.
As a cycling programme it did lose a bit of lustre after Roubaix.0 -
