Hi,

Does the Bizango have a tapered steerer/headset?

  • Doesn't look like it. 1 1/8 according to the detailed specs.
(Disclaimer: But someone on here might know better! Don't rely on me before replacing your forks or whatever you are going to do.)
    2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)
2012 Cube Ltd SL (the hardtail XC 26er)
    2014 Lapierre Zesty TR 329 (the full-sus 29er)
  • the fork as stock is a standard 1 1/8 headset, but apparently with a different lower headset cup external to the frame it is possible to run a tapered fork.

It's a stock 44mm semi integrated headset, plain steerer, but yes, as most 44mm head tubes can you can use an external lower cup to fit a tapered steerer (small increase in stack height and raises the front end a little).
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

So does that mean it still has the stiffness and preciseness of a tapered steerer?

The frame won't be as stiff as if it used a tapered headtube, but overall it will be a stiffer setup (assuming the rest of the fork is as stiff which may or may not be the case) than with a plain steerer.

  • Will the increase in stack/frame height slacken the head angle too?

By a very small amount yes, but it's only a few mm, probably within the range most people set sag!
