Flakey Paint
Whilst cleaning the bike yesterday I noticed that where the rear wheel skewers sit on the frame the paint has been damaged - the eyelet for the skewer on drive train side has pretty much lost all of it's paint leaving the alu exposed and the surrounding paint is a bit flakey.
I know that alu doesn't rust, but it does corrode. Will giving it a coat of paint be better than leaving it exposed, or do I not need to worry?

Any paint will eventually crack off under the pressure from the skewer. Don't waste your time. If you're worried about corrosion you could always put a layer of grease on it, bit messy though. On the drive side I'd expect there to be a replaceable mech hanger as well, and it may be this that the paint has flaked off.0

Actually, come to think it might not be the drive side :? blame that on Monday morning!
The area isn't just where the skewer makes contact with the frame, the whole area between the seatstay and chainstay has been exposed.0 -
The get some matching enamel (Humbrol) paint and touch it up?0

Cheers
Think I'm probably being a bit of tart, but thinking it'd be better to tidy it up before it spreads further.0
