Bike replacement

Hi there,

I'm looking for a new bike, as my old one is no longer time right shape after a van hit me and it at high speed. I was riding a Trek Domane 2.0 that had been slowly upgraded a bit to mostly 105 and had a much lighter set of wheels for the occasional bit of racing or hill climbing or nice days.

What would people recommend to replace it? I know it's asking a lot but looking for something endurance based, preferably alloy as I tend to crash a lot without vehicular assistance, and not too heavy. I can probably stretch to a bit more than £1k for the Domane. And what are people's thoughts on discs? I work in a bike shop so I can get Genesis Equilibrium disc frames cheap but I don't know about the weight of the built bike and availability of disc compatible stuff?

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you are looking for a disc equipped bike, the current Cycling + has done a review of 6 ranging in price from just under £1K to an eye watering £8K

The Equilibrium 20 Disc is included in the mix if you want to check out the reviewers opinions. The test winner was the Cannondale Synapse Ultegra Disc at £2.5K. But if you don't want to spend that then the Equilibrium Disc at £1.5K was well received. However it was beaten in the reviewers opinion by the Focus Mares AX3.0 at £999.

  • If the parts from your crashed Domane haven't been wrecked could it be worth buying just the frame/ forks and swap everything over?
If you're really worried about smashing your frame up then the Genesis steel bikes would be a good option. I don't have any experience with disks on road bikes, bu I know there are the TRP disk brake calipers that take normal brake cable into the callipers but then have a hydraulic cylinder that drives the pads.
I first spotted them on a disk equipped Domane a month ago, but apparently they've been around a while and have good reviews so you should be able to get some decent stoppers that still work with your current levers at least.
