Whyte Suffolk Vs Raleigh Ravenio 4?

I'm looking to get a new do it all bike for general riding, some sportive sand commuting. Wanted to go with discs too so was looking at the Whyte Suffolk and the Ravenio 4 (I think, the one with SRAM Rival). Both bikes look very similar in spec, 22 speed etc but the Raleigh doesn't look to have front mudguard points on the fork. I haven't managed to find a Raleigh dealer close by either to have a look but we have a Whyte dealer in town.

Any opinions and help welcome or alternatives.

    Sand commuting? That sounds hardcore.

You can't go wrong with the Suffolk. Whyte make very good bikes that are value for money.

  • Haha! I feel like I'm riding in sand some days!

I have to say I like Whyte''s. I had a 901 from 2010 and was a great bike. I wouldn't say they were great on value but I do love the look of the frames and with the mudguard compatibility it has everything I want.

If you are interested in the whyte, have a look at this: viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=12979686
  • Well I love my Whyte Suffolk fitted with Schwalbe 32C Marathon Plus tyres and full mudguards. A joy to ride even in the wet and with full mudguards bottom bracket stays remarkably clean, even after a ride around a muddy country park track. Mine is the 2015 model that I purchased about 3 weeks ago, great value in my opinion.
  • I'm leaning towards the Whyte as I can try one. I looked at that link and am interested to hear about the sizing. He said they come up big but at 6'5" I'm sure I'll need the biggest (58cm).
