Front bike lights

I occasionally ride to/from work and it is very dark and unlit in places at this time of year. I did have a powerful 1800 lumen front light with a battery pack (which suddenly stopped working half way home) but this was a bit of a pain to keep attaching and unattaching. I would like an easy to fit / remove light without a battery pack if possible, which needs to be powerful enough (I read somewhere 400 lumens min?) but isn't too expensive, ideally under £30, as it would only be used a handful of times per year.
Any suggestions?

Have 2 - and mount both - at least you can revert to the spare when one stops working....0

Couple of cree torches are your friend. And maybe one on the helmet too.0
