Ok so my father in law has a pair of Bontrager AT650 rims fitted to his Trek.
We tried to carry out a tubeless conversion tonight using the Stans kit but no mater what we tried the tyre simply wouldn't seat.
It appears almost as if the tyre is too loose in the rim centre.

I seem to recall when I converted my older Bontrager rims that you needed a specific rim liner and wondered if that is the case here.

Any help or info would be really helpfull.

Did you get the Stans rim tape kit for that specific bike rather than just the yellow tape?

Did you shock it on with a compressor/gas or just try and pump it up with a track pump or similar? It very much depends on the wheel rim and whether you're able to "spread" the tyre enough to get the bead close to the rim before going at it with a track pump. I've just had the same problem with my MudX and Superstar 29er wheels, and they're a tyre that I've never had to gas on before.
