MTB routes near Wigan

I am looking for suggestions for good rides close to home.. I live in Wigan Lancashire and was wondering if there are any MTB routes near where I live, I think the closest good run is Gisburn but as I am new to this i'm not sure so any ideas would be appreciated.. :?

Check out ,Lee Quarry and Landegla as well.
Rivington has some good rides as well,not waymarked though so a bit of research will pay off with the better routes and direction to do them.

This month's MBR mag has details of a ride in the Trough of Bowland (the Dunsop Death ride.) It's part of their "Britains best singletrack" feature, I would say that's debatable, but it's local-ish.

Closest is probably Rivington, Darwen Tower. Then you've got Lee Quarry, Cragg Quarry, Gisburn, Llandegla, Delamere.
