Hi guys, this is my first post so let me know if i'm doing something wrong .
I have been riding bikes hard for a long time. I live in London and will ride any trails i can find, but my main riding is on the street messing around, and riding to shops/school. I have a saracen tuffftrax 2014 model. This is too weak for my riding, and the rims, brakes and gearing wont hold up to my riding. I dont have amazing trail ability(not so fast), but can do some fairly technical riding eg roots, drops, stairs, manuals and wheelies.
I am reasonably competent with maintenence, and do take good care of my bike.
I am looking for a new bike under £1000, and i would like:
-hardtail
-650b wheels
-doublewalled rims
-clutched deruailler/tensioner compatible (2 front rings)
-(avid)hydraulic disc brakes
-100(120 ideally)mm fork with lockout
(the ability to do some street trails, London style)
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Theres too much choice out there on the web! Thanks

That was my thought avid brakes can be a constant battle where as shimano brakes are pretty much fit and forget. You can always upgrade the brakes afterwards.0

Shimano Brakes sound good then
Just as i occasionally dabble in lightweight traails, and wanted brakes with good bite.0 -
OnOne 45650b!
Has all you list, plus another 20-40mm travel :evil:0 -
Seconding on the Shimano brakes craic.
It's not that the Avid brakes are bad brakes per se, in fact I've had them on my Giant Anthem for a year and a half...but the squealing hasn't been fun. Nor the constant bleeding. SLX's arrive today!0 -
