Most of their stuff has been great but one or two items last year were shoddy, so I'm asking here before I buy this time.

Are these any good?

or should I fork out the extra and go for the sealskinz

Also any experience with their winter tights?

any idea on sizing, I'm 6'2" and normally buy large but their chart makes no sense, is it similar to their pro-line?

or should I just stick with dhb?

  • Do you get cold hands? I had some Craft Siberian Lobsters last year but even in -10 I found them too warm for me and ended up using my Sugoi Zeros instead.

Just asking as Lobsters may be overkill if you run warm.
  • i bought some of the lobster gloves last winter. i find them bulky but toasty and warm. they are ok to change gear with on a road bike. i never got soaked through so havent had the experience to test them that far. i'd say that they are good for less than 5 degrees. i also have sealskins which are like a sponge and take 2 days to dry out if they get wet :-(

I would always go for sealskinz, bought some of their gloves and waterproof socks which keep my feet and hands toasty. I've just bought some Pearl Izumi Amfib longs and they are touch too warm for the weather we are having at the moment :D

I bought their lobster mitts - not used them yet - I only got them in prepRation for another cold winter - and it wasn't last year. It will need to be really cold for me to use them.

I've got those longs too - they seem fine for winter rides.

If you want to give the lobster style gloves a try, Aldi had them in the last cycling 'event' they had a couple of weeks ago if you can still find them. Might be worthwhile giving them a go first to see if you get on with them?

I was tempted, but I find that my hands are the first to warm up in winter, so I suspect I would be changing them mid-ride all the time, and they are quite bulky to stow away in a pocket.

I wouldn't say I get cold hands and in general I'm pretty warm. Last year I was using these gloves from planet x

At temperatures below 2-3c I was getting numb hands, I just can't be bothered with repeatedly going through the pain of my hands warming up when I get home.....

Thinking of doubling my chances, the planet-x lobsters and this glove

Hopefully one is good for sub zero temperatres and the other is good for 0-5c....

Anyone else with opinions on the tights?

I'm leaning towards the planet x ones.

Don't know about the tight you mention, but I just ordered a pair of these:

Will post up comments after they arrive and I've tried them.

In the end I went for the dhb vaeon zero padded tights and wiggles waterproof gloves

I got bored of planet-x playing silly buggers with their stock, turns out I made the right choice, they never got any stock back in and the wiggle gloves work perfectly

I had the tights and hated them. Not soft enough. HArd to describe but they feel plasticy so cut the backs of your knees a bit.

Spend a bit more and get DHB or something

My knees have been fine on rides up to 70 miles in them so far ?
