A New Invention Called 'Mudguards'!

Well, those boffins have only gone and done it again!

I've just discovered a new invention - 'Mudguards'.

They're a plastic trim that follows the contour of your wheel and they act as a shield (a 'guard') against any surface spray (the 'mud')! Hence their name - 'Mudguards'.

They protect you and your bike from getting too wet or dirty in wet conditions and they work like a dream!

What will they think of next...?

This is where the madness begins. Pretty soon you'll be fitting something like this:

  • I would be really keen to try out disc brakes on a road bike, should they ever venture into this territory.

Maybe even a road bike tailored for use on tow paths and bridleways!

What about gear levers that don't require you to move a hand from the hood.

Ok, can everybody make their way back to the minibus now because we're going to drive to the next place to see.

Soon someone will invent the safety bicycle and you can fit them.

Oh I dream of the day when someone invents "portable light" ..

Can you imagine the wonder of being visible to others whilst riding in the dark????

    Wet conditions? What's that?

I only know of dry conditions and stay indoors conditions :-)

A bike designed to take mudguards....?

Or two mudguards rather than one.

I say that as my Allez has rear mudguard mounts but none at the front. I mean, what sort of crazy mixed up thinking is that....?

It will, I fitted mine and they kept catching on the tyres no matter how much I tweaked them.

I got there in the end though.

If you buy a set of mudguards, you can then justify another bike especially to go with them.
You could call it a "wet weather" or even "winter" bike, though coming from Manchester I understand one does not necessarily go hand in hand with the other.
  • As I live in littleborough I might just leave the rain defenders on all year.
