Vredestein Xtreme Weather - serious issue!

Hello,

I am experiencing serious issues with my new Vredestein Fortezza Senso Xtreme Weather.
They have started to fall apart, resulting in cracks in the full circumference. In some parts big enough enough to collect small gravel.

They are around 6 weeks and 500 km old. I run them at 8 bar and I weigh 82 kg. Drive on normal paved roads.

It seems that the different rubber components have not been sufficiently glued together and is breaking apart. See images.

To me it is clearly the responsibility of Vredestein and that I am entitled to full compensation.

Have anybody seen something like this before?

It's the responsibility of the shop you bought them from. Why are you posting here and not just taking them back to the shop? ;)

You're assuming UK laws, Rolf. I think I'm right in saying that the UK puts far more responsibility on the shop than most other countries. In fact, one of the "returns" measures I use at work excludes the UK because it would distort the figures.

~I'm struggling to see what the issue with those tyres is; some tyres do cut up on the tread surface depending on where you ride.
  • If a tyre is branded for extreme weather, that's what it's good for. There hasn't been much extreme weather around, so you mis-used it.
A tyre for extreme weather will have a very soft compound to improve grip when it's very wet and slippery or when the temperature drops... as a result it won't be very long lived.
Problem is people read extreme weather and think of extremely sharp thorns and a tyre capable of going to the moon and back riding on molten lava, which is obviously not the case.

  • I had a the same issue with some Vred Tri Comps a few years ago. I sent photos to Vredestein UK and got replacements no problems. I live in Australia and didn't want to root around with the online seller. I still use Vreds to this day and love them and have never had another issue.

Yeah to me that looks like a fault I'd send your best 2 photos to the importer or manufacturer with any batch/ serial number which may be on inside of tyre.

I agree with ugo. Anyway until the tyre starts bulging it is perfectly safe to ride. What you have are cracks, that is not a serious issue as the crack do not comprimie the safety of the tyre as it just the rubber that is cracked not the carcass. Any return will be up to the good will of the retailer/importer. I am not sure the sales of good act helps with 500km on a tyre as a good case can be made by the retailer and you, so the more politely you put your case across if you down that route the more likely you will get a favourable responce.

Having said that I would disapointed seeing this on my own tyres, certainly worth an e-mail to the importer. the shop though will be placed in a awkward postion if you return to them as they will get no joy from the importer (tyre waranties are very difficult unless they are new).

Also extreme weather tyres in autumn, that like putting my Pirelli Winter tyres on my car now, just asking for trouble and premature wear, which is what the importer may say come to think of it.
