stumpie evo brakes

I have a 2012 stumpjumper fsr evo which I have owned from new. It came fitted with elixir 5 brakes...so far so good. Recently the seal has failed on the lever end of the rear brake. The brake is labelled externally 'elixir 5 RSL' but it's internals do not match the items listed on SRAM's website (or anywhere else) for that model. According to the Spesh archive, it should be an elixir 7. It seems to be a mix of elixir 5/7/9 RSL parts.
any ideas?
TIA

  • Tend to find oe brakes have slightly different internals to aftermarket parts, i had the same issue with a set of avids ended up changing the lever as couldnt get internals anywhere.

Ask the guys at bikegoo - they are very helpful, are an Avid Service Centrel and sellAvid spares
  • Or get rid of them completely and bang a set of Deores on it. Truly fit and forget brakes
