Yes, yes I know- they have very polarizing views on their aesthetics, but Im curious to try some if they're cheap enough.

Anyone know UK stockists?

I'd just like to try the "race", versions that arent of the fluffy carpet design but more sleek. I know I could probably fashion something similar, but if the real ones are cheap enough, I might give them a go. I tried the "finger in front of the ear", test whilst riding last night, and the wind noise decrease is dramatic- makes approaching traffic from the rear much easier to hear.

I know- I could just put cotton wool in my ears, or wear a thin headband. I will be wearing a headband/ warmer when it gets colder, but while its mild.......

Couldn't you just go into your local John Lewis and buy a tiny bit of fake fur? I guess that's basically all the branded ones are. I think they're a good idea. On windy days, I was sometime surprised by cars behind me on the single track roads I used to commute on because you simply don't hear them until they are on you (and they were infrequent and random so regular shoulder checking was pointless).

You can buy direct from the site, shipping is $6.25 which seems reasonable. Let us know how you get on!

I haven't tried them but am a bit intrigued. I keep giving my daughters hamsters a glance and wonder if she'd miss them if I borrowed them for a test ride.

I think that is illegal in most european countries.
  • As expected, jokers all bar a couple :D

As stated, I'm not up for buying the fuzzy deep pile looking things- just the low profile version. A couple of helmet chin soft furnishings would probably work equally as well but I don't have any.

If there's no UK distributor, then I will have a go at fashioning some of my own.

Bushy sideburns are out coz I got a grade 0 bonce, so would look even more a tw@ than I do already.

For the jokers out there, try the finger test next time you out, lol

They must be spending squillions on marketing bits of foam.
