Hi All,

Been thinking about using XTR M9000 hubs for a set of road disc wheels with an Ultegra set and Spyres

However, it says that you can put a M9000 11 speed cassette on a 10 speed wheel which is making me think that the freehub on the M9000 may be the same size as a 10 speed, and so you will not be able to do this.

Anyone know if you can do this? I see they are advertising a shimano 11 speed chain for Dura Ace/M9000 so I assume the spacing on the M9000 cassette is the same as on the 6800?

No it won't fit. XTR M9000 cassettes fit onto 10 speed freehubs like all other MTB hubs. The reason the largetest sproket is dished. A 6800 cassette is simply too wide. In fact there ar no road components that work with any part of the M9000 groupset shifter, mechs e.t.c all opperate on different cable pulls.

The best hubs for 11 speed and disc brakes are novatec D771 and D772 (sucessors to D711 and D712). There are not many others on the market, miche do some but are hard to get and they are expensive. DT swiss 350 hubs can be fitted with a 11 speed shimano body as well. So Novatec and DT Swiss are the only practical options.
