Tread on a crack, kill a fairy......

Sorry, I couldn't think of another reasonably clean title with the word crack in it at such short notice.
It would appear that my salad dodging frame has killed my traffic dodging frame, can anyone who knows about these things offer an opinion if it's weldable or fit for the bin?

that is well and truly FUBAR'd. I had a crack in the same area on a titanium MTB frame but it wasn't even a tenth of what you have there.

As an aside can we see a pic of the whole bike, I'd be interested to know how high you were running your seatpost.

EDIT: Oh and I woulda made some comment about you noticing it whilst being up the crack of Dawn of summat like that

Dead as can be, weigh it in. I've never liked those extended seatposts - not without a gusset or buttress.

    Cheers folks,
Bike is a Scott Sub XL bought in Jan 2011, seat post not unusually high for that size of frame as I'm only 6'4".
I'm taking it in to my LBS tomorrow, they said they'd send some pics off to Scott & see what can be done.
I'll report back when I know more.
As an aside, I couldn't ride it last night even if I wanted to as the fairy wasn't quite dead and deflated my tyre so I just gave up and got a lift home.
  • Ah, should be OK if it's a Scott. They have a 5 year frame warranty:

Assuming you've either had it serviced once a year, or your LBS is happy to say you did.

    Update.
Got my bike back the other day, fully re-built under warranty by my local LBS http://www.53-12.com/ with a new frame from Scott.
Very impressed with the customer service of both firms!

Always nice to get a good news story with a happy ending!
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.
