I have a 26" specialized bike which originally came with a 2.0" tyre but I like the slightly wider tyres tyres on my 29er.
This is da bike http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/ ... disc#specs

Can I run a 2.1" 26" tire on my rims and frame?

Your rims will take it no issue, if you have more than 5mm clearance round the tyre (which you almost certainly have), then yes it will fit in the frame.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    Yep, it'll be fine.
