How good is the Gabba long term?

I've already asked this question in another post but I'd just like to know ..... after using and washing your Gabba throughout the last winter, has the initial "wow" worn off? Or does this miracle garment still stand up to the elements.

Used mine for a year - still tip top. Admittedly it has only been in the wash twice as I've always had a layer on underneath. Nanoflex stuff less so - I need to treat those bits again as the leg and arm warmers I have have lost their 'nano'...Kinesis Racelite 4s disc

viewtopic.php?f=40042&t=12939097&hilit=gabba+proof&start=80I finally got an answer from Saddleback, The Castelli distributer.
"Machine wash your garment as described in the wash instructions. Line dry your garment, or tumble dry it on a warm, gentle cycle.
Once it is dry, tumble dry your garment for 20 minutes to reactivate the durable water-repellent (DWR) treatment on the outer fabric.
If unable to tumble dry, iron the dry garment on gentle setting (warm, no steam) by placing a towel or cloth between the garment and the iron. This will help reactivate the DWR treatment on your garment's outer fabric.
When the factory applied treatment can no longer be reactivated, apply a new water-repellent treatment available as a pump-spray or wash-in product to the garment's outer fabric.

Or Nikwax is just as good."0 -

And what has that got to do with my question?
I've searched already and the posts are just full of folk wanting to know how to wash their beloved garment, MrSweary gave a fair reply but he's only washed the Gabba twice, I'd like to know what it's like if you wash it something like twice a week for year......a long term test.0 -
Mine is no longer waterproof - got soaked in a wet ride last weekend, but then I haven't tumble dried it.....0

ive washed mine more than twice (used tech wash for it) did notice after a few times that the water wasnt beading so sprayed some reproofer on it and its working ok again. Although when i say working i mean its going to keep me dry for drizzle, showers etc i wouldnt expect it to keep me dry for hours out in persistent rain - but that was the same from new too.0

- tumble drying or going over it with an iron will help to reactivate the original waterproofing
- if that doesn't seem to work any more, wash it with Nikwax or something similar to reproof it (I just tried this with mine, worked perfectly)
This is the same sort of treatment you'd give to almost any waterproof garment that you expect to keep for a significant amount of time. Nothing complicated about it.0 -

eh? Those threads were full of people who have carried out just such long term tests, telling how they washed it to keep it looking/smalling good and keep is water repellency and also how they treated it to bring back the waterproof qualities if those diminished. I cant see how they do anything other than specifically answer your question?0 -
had a one for about a year and used at least a couple of times per week over last winter\spring, washed after EVERY ride with halo. Have run a light iron over it 4 or 5 times and one nikwax wash in treatment. Is it the same as new? no because the transfers are cracking ;-) but in regards to the fabric doing the job I bought it for, then yes, can't tell the difference, water beads up and runs off and I don't get a wet back from road spray.0
