  • Thanks for the heads up
  • Looks good. Would love to get a set, but not sure they'll do it in France.

Did buy a normal Allen set from Lidl a while back, and some of the keys were slightly off size wise, compared to my best set.

When did Allen keys become hex keys ? I missed the memo ! :-(

Even the French, who hate attaching anything AngloSaxon to their words, call them 'clés allens'.

Would the torque wrench be suitable for carbon bike maintenance?
What else would I need to attach?

What concerns do you have about using the tools on a carbon bike?

What else would I need to attach?

    Attach what to what?

Torque wrench will probably not go to low enough setting for bike components. It doesnt say but if you check, you need to look for one that will do 4/5/6 Nm. I think this one will be for higher torque settings for car etc.

Given the size of the included sockets I'm guessing it isn't suitable for bike fettling.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • Picked up two (one for my garage, one for our workshop) sets of the "Allen Key" thingys today from Rochdale, plenty in stock.

Only time will tell I guess.

Allen is a brand name of hex keys. Hex keys is the generic name. Most people say Allen keys in the same way many people say Hoover when they don't mean a Hoover brand vacuum cleaner.

But why would you be looking at buying a "Hoover" to fix your bike?

I think the last time they had torque wrenches, they started at 20Nm
  • Popped into my local to get a set - came away having spent £60 on a bike tool kit and a few other bits that I didn't realise I needed!! Am I in the minority when it comes to tools?

Amazing ! I genuinely did not know this. Thanks !

Got one of the hex key sets yesterday. They look ok but haven't used them yet.

The torque wrench only goes as low as 28Nm, so pretty useless for bike use.

I picked up a set of the hex keys though. They looked excellent value for under a tenner.
