Care of eyewear.

As a spectacle wearer, I clean my specs by rinsing under a tap with a dab of washing up liquid. I pat dry with a soft optical cloth. I never rub the lens, esp when dry.
Small dust particles create a sandpaper effect, leaving micro scratches in the lens. These micro scratches are hard to see but cause flare under tricky light conditions, eg night riding, low sun.
If I need to clean lenses on a ride, I rinse from my waterbottle.

I wear contact lenses.
Much easier imo.
BUT - i can still see if i dont have them in, whereas many cant if they loose one.My winter bike is exactly the same as my summer bike,,, but dirty...0 -
You want to be very sparing with washing up liquid - it can damage the coating nd the glasses.
If you have to use it (eg sunscreen on the lenses) then it's best to just use water from a full basin ready for dishes - not to squirt neat soap on the lenses.
With a decent coating there's a hydrophobic layer so plain water should be enough to clean them - and then just buff them with a microfibre cloth.I'm left handed, if that matters.0
