Hi, i have an 80's Moser steel frame that im putting a modern twist on with deep carbon wheels and a modern groupset (if poss). Basically i want to know if i can fit a modern crank to it as i have a nice 2012 Campag Record in the garage and what is needed to fit it? The frame is italian thread if that helps.

Thanks in advance,
Andy

I have an 80s Moser frame, which I've converted to single speed. I'm using an Italian threaded Hollowtech BB and On One track cranks. Lovely frames.

My next project is a vintage 80s steel frame with modern kit, bright red and chrome. I'm looking for a De Rosa frame in need of some love, and go from there.

If it's 80's you will likely find the rear spacing is only 126 or even 120 mm, which will make fitting your 2012 Record wheel/hub/cassette a squeeze. You may be able to force it, but see a frame builder to get advice if in doubt!

Otherwise, the rest should fit fine.

As it's steel, you should be able to cold-set the rear spacing.

My Moser a Team SLX, is from 84, I think. I had no problem fitting a regualr 130mm rear hub. I'm not sure if the previous frame owner had cold set it, or is it was originally that size, but either way it shouldn't be a problem.
