Which Hollowtech II Tool?
Looking to buy a tool to remove a Shimano Hollowtech II bottom bracket.
There are some on ebay for £4 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOTTOM-BRACKE ... 5408cf9ae6
Or should I just bite the bullet and get a Park Tool one?
Or is there something else I should be looking at?

Bite the bullet and get the Shimano Tool http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-bb-span ... h-ii-cups/0

Nice to have good tools but this is one I reckoned I would use very rarely so I bought a mid range one £8 as I recall.0

That's the mistake I made, assuming the Shimano tool would be best. I practice it's not long enough, tricky to keep properly engaged with the BB cups, and really quite painful on the hands. Make me an offer if you'd like to buy it off me.
I'd suggest one of the socket types that sits completely around the BB cup and allows you to use a big adjustable spanner or a handle from a socket set.0 -
Would recommend the Park Tool one have had no problems with it, IMO its worth paying a little extra.0

I've got two, one like the Shimano/Park one and o
the Ice Toolz one like below

I always end up using the Ice Toolz one, you just stick an Allen Key into the centre of it for leverage.0 -
Yes I know it's a Halfrauds own brand but I have found this to be reliable and efficient. Also it fits over the whole cup thus allowing the application of more even force.

It also comes with the bearing pre-load cap gizmo.0 -
I've been using the Halfords/Bikehut tool for several years now - highly recommended.0

I bought one of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lezyne-external-bottom-bracket-socket-tool/ so that I can use it with my torque wrench.'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0

Thanks for all the replies. My conclusion is that it probably doesn't matter too much which tool I get but no one uses the cheapo one from E-Bay. I'll have a look around and see if I can find one at a decent price.0

I use a cheap E bay tool. I have used it several times without a problem.0

I've got the IceToolz one too and I like it - I got a converter for a few pounds on eBay so it fits my torque wrench and it's just the right shape for the preload.I'm left handed, if that matters.0

I prefer the socket type ones (like the Ice Toolz) because they spread the load out over more area, and so make it harder to scratch soft aluminium cups.0

I have the PRO one. It grips the cups really well, gives good leverage, and could easily be used to kill someone.Giant TCR Advanced II - Reviewed on my homepage
